Toppled Tower, Rubble Roads [[PRIVATE; For Kiba-Fish and Amayah]]

The night sky was filled with the usual smog of the radioactive air, covering half the stars in the night sky, and half the sky itself. The moon, however, shone brightly and proudly, casting a faint white hue through the shroud. Under it, walked a young boy with white hair that, if not purer, matched the moon's shade of white. He took careful steps as he continued into a large city--or, at least, the many remains of one. The concrete roads were demolished, split in half with many uneven cracks and chunks of misplaced rock. It looked like the aftermath of taking a finger and moving it through a small pile of dirt or sand, but way worse.

The boy's travels were already becoming a bit strenuous on his legs. He took silent glances at his wings which were followed by deep sighs. He longed to be able to fly, but he was way too afraid. His dove wing was two or three times bigger than his woodpecker wing. He would only hate himself if he did any damage to them, the wings that allowed him to live. His head swarmed with thoughts as his legs began cramping up a little longer. He took a second look around and saw that a sign that was half inside a window said "Welcome to Toky..., Ja..." He couldn't quite put his finger on what it meant, but alot of it was smudged off, or had a giant hole in the way of reading the missing letters.

Looking around, he found a spot to sit in, and looked up at the foggy sky. The ground was cold, and pieces of rubble were sharp and a bit uncomfortable in the area he sat in, on the edge of one of the few intact parts of the road, against the curb of it. With another sigh, he closed his eyes and drifted his imagination off to thinking about what this poor city, with it's crumbled buildings, demolished roads, and eerie atmosphere, was liked before the war.

Amayah had longed to visit Tokyo ever since she got her new body. To find it amongst all the rubble, however was a slight problem. She had been walking for days, and she had finally recognized she had come to her destination when she saw a torn apart sign that read “Welcome to Toky… Ja…” This must mean Tokyo, Japan, she thought to herself. She had made it!

She had never seen Tokyo live in her life, but she had seen many pictures of it before the war. However, the pictures meant nothing now. It was destroyed… hardly anything stood in the bombs path. She sniffed the air, someone was here; there was something about the scent that was familiar. Who is this now, she thought. She wasn’t sure whether to call out for the creature or not, so she thought it may be best to search the area for any predator or… well, anyone at all.

Furai was no good at detecting people, so he didn't even hear any of the rubble move that Amayah may have caused, even in the silent night. He kept his eyes closed, imagining the town that once was. He saw large buildings, which he pictured because the crumbled ones he saw now were really tall anyways, or had larger stacks of debris stacked on top of eachother than the past towns.

The scent was getting closer and closer with her every move, who was this? Why was it so familiar? She decided to call out, there seemed to be a friendly aroma in the air; past the eerie feeling of a destroyed city, that is. “Hello? Who’s there? I come in peace…” she added lamely.

Furai's eyes opened to a familiar voice. He couldn't tell where it came from, because some of the building rubble and street formations blocked his sight. That voice was very familiar, though. "U-Uhm..H-...H-Hello?" He replied, hoping for a response--he didn't know if he was going insane an hearing things, or if it was a real person.

Amayah heard the voice, it was very familiar. “Where are you?” she yelled. She wanted to find, and see this mysterious creature. It may be someone she knew, she thought hopefully.

No, No. This voice definately wasn't in his head, or a creation of his self insanity--if he really had any to begin with, at least. "I'm Over...E-etto...Er..I'm over h-here!" He tried shouting, repeating here four times, which seemed like six due to his stuttering. He threw a few rocks onto the street as a signal, too.

He then thought about how the giant piles of debris on the street muffled sounds a bit, kind of like snow does, so he started thinking of a different approach. 'Hmm...' Some of his scenerios included:

'Well, I could throw a few rocks in the air, so she could see them--but they could end up hititng me or her, which would be bad.'
'I could scream really, reallllyy loudly, but that might atract any predators. This person at least has a familiar voice, but I wouldn't want to cost us both our lives.'
'I could try flying up in the air, I mean...I-I have wings, right? What could be the worst to happen...?'

After thinking about that, and more, he decided Option 3 woudl be the best. He took a look around, and found a trash can, and some large rocks, probably part of the street, laying near a shallow building. He got up and took a breif stretched from the curb, took himself over to the objects, and thought about how to stack them. He grabbed some of the rocks, which had very jagged edges. They were colder than the air was, which was a bit uncomfortable at first. He toted them one at a time carefully and put on outsides the trashcan, one in it, and then led it to a fairly sized hole in the building near the top edge.

Takign a step back, he dusted his hands off, which were now covered in dirt that looked pitch black. The cold atmosphere wasn't as bad, but probably since Furai, for some reason, was hooked on finding the personality. They say that 'Curiousity Killed the Cat', well, it's about to kill the bird looking for the cat.

He stepped on the large rock, and then boosted himself onto the large rock in the trash can. He did that for a sense of balance, though it probably didn't help much. Doesn't hurt to have some confidence on your side, though, right? He then took a small leap, and tried grabbing for that minor window-sized hole in the house. One hand made it, and the other scraped against it. "Sh--O-Ow.." He whispered a small groan under his breath, and flapped his wings as a bit of an airy boost to help him get his other hand up. He used the tie, first, to cover the scratched and then grabbed the ledge. With another flap, he boosted himself over the hole and onto the ceiling. He made it.

Without really thinking about it, he steped over to the edge recklessly, and gazed down on the street. It wasn't much higher than the street, but it was perfect enough to spot the cat-girl who was still looking below. "U-Up..U-Uhm...U-Up Here!" Furai stuttered loudly, waving both arms up at the air. He tried to take a step back so he could jump, but his foot slipped the opposite way and caused him to fall.

'I-Is this gonna be b-bad...?' Furai thought, closing his eyes until he noticed a wing brush up against his arm. Then the ideas swarmed with a split second's time about flying. He flapped his wings as hard as he could, but this only made him spiral into the floor. His uneven wings couldn't support eachother. The air was cold and tense for the young white-haired teenager, and as he came in contact with the ground, he was glad he only tried doing this from a shallow building, and not something extreme.

She saw the boy on the roof, as she looked up she wondered what he was doing there. He attempted to fly, but she noticed one of his wings was very small compared to the other, which threw him off balance. He fell, and he hit the ground hard. Amayah gasped and ran to his side. She looked at him all over; he didn’t appear to be seriously injured just a few scrapes. He had a small cut on his hand, she licked it with her barbed tongue; removing the blood from it. He should be fine; he just damaged his pride slightly and should be just fine. But she couldn’t help but laugh quietly to herself when he wasn’t paying attention.

“Are you okay?” she asked soothingly as she helped him up. “That was quite the fall you had there…”

Opening his eyes after a few seconds of taing in the impact from the fall, Furai's eyes blurred slightly for a second to a black figure standing above him. Moments later, his eyes fixed to see...Amayah? What was she doing here?

He dusted himself off after he was helped up by her, and gave a small wave with a timid smile, replying, "Y-Yes, I a-am..." It wasn't exactly the most reassuring of voices, but he surely was okay. He took a peek at his wings. His left wing, the white dove one, was slightly bent at a few feathers in the top corner, and had black marks of dirt mixed with red blood stains on it. It was going to be fine, though. Everything was just minor. As for the other wing, his green woodpecker wing, it was perfectly fine. Not even a scratch on it. He must have fallen on the opposite side of it, which is why the dove wing had tooken more damage.

After taking a final self-check of his wings and limbs, he found himself looking at Amayah again. "Y-You're A-Amayah, R-...Right?" He asked, hoping he wasn't mistaking her for someone he met earlier in his travels.

As he checked himself for injuries she watched him carefully, and listening closely for any signs of predators. There didn't seem to be any dangers, which pleased her. "Well, it isn't the Easter bunny" she said with a sarcastic tone and a smirk. She hoped some humour would cheer him up. "You alright now, hun?" she asked softly.

Furai took a second to take in the joke--but he didn't fully understand it. "U-Uhm..R-..Right...heh," he said, ending with a nervous chuckle. He took a look around, and the air became a bit chilly. He felt an eerie aura lingering around the area, but couldn't quite put his finger on it.

She noticed the poor boy was nervous, she decided he needed something. She want very good at being people friendly, and wasn’t sure what to do. She tried what she saw the humans doing to other humans when they were sad; a hug. She leaned in, and put both her long, thin arms around his back, hoping he wouldn’t think of it as an attack; she rest her chin on his shoulder.

Furai scratched the back of his head short before being embraced by Amayah. Not knowing what to do, his eyes shot open. A blush krept to his face slowly, and his arms began to tremble like a small earthquake--well, maybe not as bad. "U-Uh...A-...Er..." Furai didn't want to be rude and say something like 'can you g-get off me?' or 'Please remove yourself', but he didn't know how to react to the girl, neither.

He took glances around, until Amayah put her chin on his shoulder. He was left practically immobile, unknown of what to do thanks to his unfortunate clusters of phobia that ran throughout his mind.

Amayah felt him tremble, and instantly began to worry about what she had done. She leaned back a bit, looking into his eyes; they were open wide and darting everywhere. She felt slightly bad for startling him, and let him go. The guilt was beginning to take over her emotions, and she hung her head slightly and mumbled “Sorry… you just looked upset. Most humans do that, action thing when they are upset.” Her attempt at being human failed, how do humans do that hugging thing, and why doesn’t it work for me, she thought miserably.

Furai started feeling a bit guilty, himself, after he looked at Amayah's expression. "I-I'm sorry..U-Uhm..Y-You had good intent...B-But...A-Ano...Erm..." He didn't know how to for the words. He spent the next minute or so repeating "Ano, Erm..U-...Uhm..E-Etto..A-Ah...Erm.." Until he figured out what to say. "Th-Thank You, really.." he said, with a small nod of his head. He said those words with all honesty. Amayah reacted right, Furai was the one a little less human than her, to be honest. Being secluded probably dropped his social skills to that of the cat girl who stood before him.

She lifted her head at the sound of his voice, and pricked her ears. He was so nervous, but why? What was making him so jumpy and frightened? At the words “Thank you” she tilted her head in slight confusion. Thank you? Never before had anyone thanked her… why was he thanking her for? “Thank you, but…what for? I didn’t do anything…” she blurted confusedly. “I mean, it’s just…most other creatures would have seized the chance to kill me when I let my guard down to do that…thing.” She muttered, still not grasping the hug concept. “You are different from the others, so cautious.” She wanted to ask him what made him this way or why he was like that… but she didn’t wish to come off as rude. She figured when the time came, it would be revealed.

Furai looked around timidly again, and then meekly replied, "W-Well...The hug. Erm..It was..I m-mean..I'm thanking you for..e-erm...c-caring." He had to force those words out, fearing that he may have made it too awkward between the two. He couldn't even look at her in the eyes at this point, let alone even in the relative direction of where she was. He was doing anything but. His mind fogged up with confusion and insecurity. He hasn't had a friend in so long ,he doesn't even know what to do anymore.

Not knowing what to do, Amayah spun on the balls of her heels; with her back now facing Furai. “You’re welcome, Furai” she said quietly as she began to walk away.

Furai looked around worrily again. Was she going off because an enemy was around? Was there something he said? The young boy didn't know. Instead he decided to work up the courage to say something. When his words came to sound, he asked, "W-Where...Where are you goi-ing?"

“Well, I don’t want to bother you anymore” she started off slowly. “I think it’s best for us both if I leave” she ended coolly as she hung her head low.

Furai shook his head, regardless of the fact that Amayah wouldn't be able to see it. It was just habit, or something. He took a few steps forward and then forked his way to the right of Amayah. "B-But...I-I'll be....." He looked at Amayah with a melancholic face, "I'll be a-alone, again.." he finished, looking forward again. He didn't think he'd ever have to say those words, because before all this, he wanted to be alone. He was always happy alone, which is why he stood by the school when everyone fled from the fear of the war breaking out. It was his peace. But now that he has someone to help him get by, and she was leaving him? He couldn't bear the thought of being alone again.

Amayah looked up at the boy and pricked her ears. Alone… again? Was that why he was so scared, all of this time…a little guy like him; alone? She stopped walking and turned to face him again. “Don’t fret. You are never alone” she said quietly. She wondered what she should do next.

Furai tilted his head in confusion. He fixed his eyepatch as it began to slip, and then asked, "What do you mean~?"

“I mean, I will be here. To protect you, to talk to you…” she trailed off slightly as tears formed in her eyes. “And to just be a friend” she finished as she gave him a rather watery stare.

A surprised face formed Furai's face. Were they...friends? Is that what it's like to have friend? It's been so long he can't remember. Shortly after Amayah's tears started forming, a few of his own did too, some trailing down his pale cheeks. He took a few more steps forward and with a smile on his face, said "Then lets get going, Amayah~", while pointing deeper into the tarnished city. He didn't stutter one bit saying that. ...He felt comfortable around a person for the first time in years, and he was truely happy inside.
